OpenEvidence & Advertisements

OpenEvidence is designed from the ground up to provide accurate, complete, up-to-date, precise, and fully unbiased information to our health care professional users. We are committed to providing this service for free and equally to all health care professionals, spanning the entire spectrum from those at large, well-resourced institutions to those in small practices across the country.

To achieve this goal, we build and utilize state-of-the-art technology to sift through tens of millions of potentially relevant documents and pieces of information to find the most relevant and useful information for our users. To cover the costs of this service, we show a limited number of controlled advertisements from closely vetted advertisers.

Can advertisers influence answers on OpenEvidence?

No. OpenEvidence maintains an impenetrable separation between the content of the information we provide and the advertisements we show. Advertisers cannot and will never be able to influence the content of the information provided.

Why are there ads on OpenEvidence?

Our mission is to organize the world’s medical knowledge and make it more useful, open, accessible, and understandable. Working with advertisers allows us to offer OpenEvidence to everyone, for free.

How do you ensure advertisements remain separate from content?

The OpenEvidence information system and the ad display system are fully unconnected systems. The information and answers provided by OpenEvidence draw on the totality of evidence available, without any influence from advertisers. Advertisements are clearly marked as such and distinguished from the content of answers.

    • alcohol
    • weapons, firearms, ammunition, or fireworks
    • gambling
    • pornography
    • tobacco
  5. A click on an Advertisement may link the end user to the Advertiser's site or to a relevant sponsored content area on the OpenEvidence Platform. Advertisements may redirect users to Advertiser websites that are not controlled by Xyla Inc. and may not reflect our policies regarding advertising or privacy.

  6. Xyla Inc. reserves the right to decide at any time in its sole discretion whether it will accept, reject, cancel, or remove Advertising from the OpenEvidence Platform.
